Who we are

Resource Teachers: Learning and Behaviour (RTLB) are experienced teachers trained to work collaboratively with students, caregivers, family/whānau, teachers, SENCOs, principals and the community to support positive educational outcomes for students between the Years 1-10. Whilst we are not experts we have developed expertise in the field of supporting students with special learning and behavioural needs.

We work collaboratively with schools, teachers and whānau to …
• Identify and overcome barriers to learning for students.
• Assist in adapting the curriculum in a way that is inclusive and the least intrusive.
• Support referrals to other agencies (community, mental health, social services) or other funding sources (ORS, IWS)
• Support the key transitions for students with at risk factors (entry to school, between Primary to Secondary)
• Provide ‘systems support’ to increase capacity of the schools to cater for diverse learning needs
• Support and deliver Ministry of Education initatives
• We also have a particular focus on supporting students with High Learning Needs (HLN), Māori and Pasifika students and children and young people moving into State care through the Gateway process.
